JAZZ PIANIST, QUARTET AT MAXWELL'S

Jazz pianist Dan Sandidge is touring the nation's jazz clubs and will be featured with his quartet tonight through Thursday at Maxwell's.

The Dan Sandidge Quartet also features Charlie Young, a saxophonist with the Duke Ellington Orchestra. But the main performer is Sandidge himself.

Sandidge has played with jazz greats Nat Adderly, Randy Brecker, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Kai Winding, Al Conn and Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis. He has toured 26 countries as a pianist and conductor of Broadway shows and musical groups. Sandidge has been musical director for TV and Broadway shows and for The Supremes, and has toured with Stan Kenton's orchestra.

He was commissioned to compose and conduct "The LBJ March" for President Lyndon Johnson and gave a command performance at London's Palladium for Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother. An Eastman School of Music graduate, Sandidge has an album, "My Kind of Piano," on Decca and is a pianist at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Maxwell's entertainment begins at 9 p.m. There is a $3 cover charge. A dinner package is available. Call 552-3300 for information.
