BUSINESSMAN HEADS UNITED WAY DRIVE

Roanoke businessman William F. Hawkins will head the United Way of Roanoke Valley's 1991 fund-raising campaign.

Hawkins is president of Proforma Mid-Atlantic, a company that distributes business forms and other office products.

He is former president and chief executive officer of Colonial American National Bank.

Hawkins has volunteered with United Way for more than 10 years. He has served on the charity's executive board and board of directors and was chairman of the board in 1987.

He headed United Way's fund distribution committee from 1984 to 1986.

Hawkins also is on the boards of Center in the Square, the Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority and the Roanoke Valley Business Council.

United Way helps fund more than three dozen non-profit agencies in the Roanoke Valley, including the American Heart Association, the Bent Mountain First Aid and Rescue Crew and the Salvation Army.

United Way's 1990 campaign raised more than $4.5 million.
