Rena Parsons (Gee) Gilly, age 88, passed away Monday, March 25, 1991 in a local hospital. She was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, daughter of the late Theodore and Drucilla Parsons of Savage, Va. She was a graduate of Disputana High School and Radford State Teachers College in 1925. She taught in Wise County for 35 years during which time she was a resident of Big Stone Gap. She resided with her daughter in Moneta for the past four years. She was the widow of John B. Gilly. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Martha Gilly and C. Ray Wells, Moneta; sister, Eva Parsons Hare, Alexandria; grandchildren and spouses, Jonathan Ray and Lisa Ellen Wells, Fairfax; Jennifer Dru Wells, Lynchburg; Joseph Parsons Wells, Moneta. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m Wednesday from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Byron Wilkinson and the Rev. George W. Jones will officiate. Graveside service and burial will be in Big Stone Gap, Va. at Glencoe Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Warren Wattenbarger will officiate the graveside service. The family suggests contributions may be made to Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church or the Vinton First Aid Crew. Friends may call at Lotz Vinton Chapel.
