TOWNLEY, EDNA H.

Edna Havens Townley, age 84, passed away at the Wythe County Community Hospital on Monday, March 25, 1991. She was born in Bland County, a daughter of the late Shepherd and Lillie Woods Havens, and was a member of the Wilderness Creek Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Townley; one son, Leonard Townley; four daughters, Arvist Kelly, Louella Sarver, Dorothy Ford, and Barbara Townley. Survivors include two daughters, Winfred Cox, Ivor; Virginia Woodfin, Richmond; five sons, Williams S. Townley, Ripplemeade; Randolph B. Townley, Bland; Luther B. Townley, Kingston, Tenn.; Sherman Townley, Marion; Walter J. Townley, South Boston; a sister, Flora Pruett, Bland; two brothers, Rufus Havens and Alfred Havens, both of Bland; thirty-two grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Newberry Funeral Home in Bland with the Rev. James Whitten and the Rev. Raymond White officiating. Interment will follow in Hoges Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Newberry Funeral Home in Bland. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Bland County Rescue Squad. Newberry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
