UVA WOMEN DEFEAT MARYLAND IN LACROSSE

The undefeated Virginia women's lacrosse team, ranked second in the nation, won its fifth consecutive game on Tuesday, defeating Maryland 6-5 at University Hall field.

Virginia (5-0) took charge in the second half, getting goals from Cynthia Mathes and Erin Stewart to lead 5-3 in the first 9:17 of the half. Maryland (3-1) rallied to 5-4, but Cherie Greer's goal at 13:16 of the half sealed the victory.
