THIEVES TRASH BEDFORD LANDFILL

Only recently, Bedford County officials put a guard at the entrance to its landfill.

But it looks like they may need another guard to protect the guard's quarters.

Since a construction trailer was installed about 75 days ago at the entrance of the landfill for the workers who monitor what goes into the county dump, it's been broken into.

Not just once, but several times, says County Administrator William Rolfe. As recently as this past Sunday.

One weekend, while the landfill was closed to the public, the porch to the trailer was vandalized.

Another weekend, the telephone was stolen.

And another time, an old television was ripped off, Rolfe said.
