2 COUNTIES GET TEMPORARY ROAD ENGINEER

Tom Ramey, Bristol Transportation District construction engineer, will be interim resident engineer for Wythe and Grayson counties until the end of the year.

Resident Engineer Allen Williams will return from educational leave at that time.

Ramey began working with the Virginia Department of Transportation as an engineer trainee after graduating from West Virginia University in 1964. He was with the department's bridge division in Richmond before moving to Bristol in 1969 as district bridge engineer. He was promoted to construction engineer in 1985.

He will oversee highway construction in the 12-county Bristol District while heading the two-county residency office in Wytheville.

Ramey also is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and commands a 600-member training support brigade with headquarters in Salem.
