MITSUBISHI TV BUYERS DUE PRICE-FIX REFUNDS

Mitsubishi Electronics America Inc., the U.S. distributor of Mitsubishi and MGA brand televisions, agreed Wednesday to refund $7.95 million to consumers to settle charges that it unlawfully fixed the retail prices of its television sets.

Thousands of Americans who bought Mitsubishi and MGA sets in 1988 are expected to get refunds ranging from $20 to $54 each.

The price-fixing charges were detailed in complaints filed in U.S. District Court here Wednesday. Mitsubishi denied it had engaged in any illegal activity. - Baltimore Evening Sun
