BAPTISTS AND WOMEN TEACHING MEN

IN A NEWS story March 14, "Baptists question women's roles," K.R. "Bud" Funk of Bloomfield, N.M., a conservative trustee at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, was quoted as saying, "I think it would be better not to have women teaching [theology to] men."

As a Baptist, I am chagrined at such a statement. If this becomes the position of the individuals who are future graduates of the seminary, I shudder at what will happen to our great denomination and to Christianity in general. JANE HURT ROANOKE
