The Williamson Road Hornets upset the top-seeded Glenvar 76ers 43-39 to win the midget-league championship. Xavier Lee, who scored 16 points, was named midget-league Most Valuable Player.
The All-Tournament Midget League Team included Chris Evans, Donnie Wimmer, Jason Arrington and Andy Lesperance of the Glenvar 76ers and Michael Yates of the Williamson Road Hornets.
The Williamson Road Wahoos were the little-league champions, beating the North Roanoke Hornets 41-35. Tom Salter, little-league MVP, made 12 points in the final game.
The All-Tournament Little League Team included Chad Smith and Josh Dowdy of the Cave Spring Hornets, Jay Clements and Mark Levan of the Williamson Road Wahoos, Justin Young and Corey Shelton of the North Roanoke Hornets, Mayo Wilson of the Vinton Maroons, Dee Shovely and Adam Wimmer of the North Roanoke Tarheels and John Doss of the North Roanoke Mavericks.
The Troutville Bulls won the junior-league championship, defeating the Mason Cove Volunteers 42-39. Shane Arnold of the Volunteers was the league's MVP.
The All-Tournament Junior League Team included Eric Larson of the Cave Spring Bulls, Brian Brogan and Jay Gilliland of the Troutville Bulls, Rob Nelson of the North Roanoke Celtics and Derrick Hollins of the Mason Cove Volunteers.
In the cheerleading competition, the Williamson Road Wahoos won the midget-league championship, the Eagle Rock Eagles won the little-league title and the Cave Spring Hawks won the junior-league title.
Lord Botetourt High School point guard Bobby Prince was the Knights' one-on-one champion for 1991. Prince beat William Byrd's John Smith 23-20.
Of the 350 participating players, Erick Wright, Adam Smith and Spencer Peters were selected to attend Roanoke College's summer basketball camp.
