The Upward Bound program at Roanoke College will begin recruitment April 9-12 for its 1991-92 summer and fall college-preparatory sessions.
Interested students currently in the ninth, 10th or 11th grade and who attend Northside Junior High or Northside, Salem, Patrick Henry or William Fleming high schools should contact their guidance counselors for eligibility and program information.
All applications for admission must be turned in by May 3. Interviews will be conducted during the week of May 6. For information not available at the schools, call 375-2246 or 375-2314.
Mental health award nominations sought
The Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley is accepting nominations for its annual awards for those who have made contributions in the area of mental health.
Roanoke Valley individuals and organizations may be nominated in any of the following categories: community service, employer of the year, media, medical, public policy, unsung hero, Robert A. Croxson memorial (for clergy), distinguished service, committee chairman of the year and volunteer of the year.
Nominations must be received by Friday. The awards will be presented during the association's the annual awards luncheon May 2. For more information, call 344-0931.
