The YWCA of Roanoke Valley will sponsor a Spring Fling day camp Monday through April 5 at its Central and Salem locations.
Swimming, games, sports, movies, arts and crafts, and outings are planned for children ages 5-12.
The cost is $45 per child, plus YWCA membership ($10 per year, if not current). Full and partial scholarships may be available for children who qualify for financial aid.

Magnet Schools extend application deqadline
Roanoke Magnet Schools have extended the application deadline for the 1991-92 school year.
Applications for the schools, in which particular themes are emphasized, will be accepted through April 5. There is no tuition charge, and students who live outside the city of Roanoke are encouraged to apply.

Trail ride to benefit St. Jude's hospital
The 4-H Horsemen of Salem are sponsoring a trail ride April 7 to raise funds for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Riders will collect donations for the distance ridden and must turn in the money at registration, 1-2 p.m. the day of the ride, at the Carvins Cove boat dock. The rain date is April 14.
Those who would like to sponsor a rider but do not know one may drop off checks made payable to St. Jude's at Sundance Manor Equine Center in Glenvar Heights, the Salem Kmart on West Main Street, or the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce on College Avenue.

`Dance for Heart' event postponed to April 20
"Dance for Heart," an aerobic exercise event originally scheduled for March 16, has been postponed to April 20 from 9 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the Carter Athletic Center at North Cross School.
Dancers collect donations for every minute that they dance, with the funds to benefit the American Heart Association. There are four themes: country and western, corporate, sports and beach. Participants are encouraged to bring costumes for each theme.

Library patron surged to return overdue items
The public library systems in Roanoke, Roanoke County and Salem are encouraging library users to return long-overdue items to the libraries with no penalty.
Since the libraries are preparing for the full automation of their services and plan to re-institute fines for overdue materials, they have declared an amnesty period through April 30.
