OBIT BACKUS, A.

Mrs. Agnes Backus, age 80, died Wednesday in Rahway Hospital, Rahway, New Jersey. She was formerly of Roanoke, living in the Riverdale section, where she was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church. Mrs. Backus was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Ramsuer. Surviving are two sons, Harold Ramsuer, Roanoke; and Ralph Ramsuer, Roanoke; two daughters, Cleo (Elsie) Faiges, Carteret, N.J., with whom she resided; and Mable Short Harris, Moneta; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Arthur, Richmond; James Arthur, Roanoke; and Joe Arthur, Roanoke; and a sister, Carrie Hairfield, Newport News. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Liptrap officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Burial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday.
