Don Reid, the phone company's Roanoke manager, said the delivery will extend through mid-April.
A phone customer who fails to receive a directory by April 15 should call 561-1000 for residential service or 561-2000 for businesses.
Old directories can be recycled by taking them to special collection containers at Kroger supermarkets.
There are 525 yellow pages this year compared to 531 a year ago. Reid said the lead time for yellow-page advertising is many months in advance, so the decline is not am impact of the economic downturn.
The new book contains one additional page of business listings compared to last year.
The residential pages are also longer, but this year they include Stone Mountain, which is the Bedford side of Smith Mountain Lake. Stone Mountain was combined with the Roanoke Valley local calling area earlier this month.
