NO PROGRESS IN TALKS WITH CARPENTER'S UNION

No progress was reported Thursday after the second round of negotiations between the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Brunswick Corp. The union struck the Marion company March 2.

The Brotherhood, known as the Carpenter's Union, will probably meet with the company again Tuesday or Wednesday, said Myron DeBord, local president.

The union of about 800 members plans a rally April 7 in order to draw the support of other Southwest Virginia unions, Debord said.
