PANEL: INMATES WITH AIDS NEED CARE

The nation is missing a huge opportunity to stem the AIDS epidemic by failing to provide for the medical and public health needs of inmates infected with the virus, a federal panel said Thursday.

"Failure to provide adequately for medical and public health needs works to the detriment of society as a whole" because most prisoners eventually return to their communities, the report said.
