RAIN BRINGS FLOOD WATCH

Rain could become heavy tonight and cause some streams to flood as a low-pressure system moves toward Southwest Virginia, the National Weather Service in Roanoke said today.

The weather service has issued a flood watch for Roanoke, Botetourt and Floyd counties and all areas to the west until 1 a.m. Saturday. Those living near small streams, creeks and flood-prone areas should be prepared to move to higher ground if heavy rains occur, the service said.

The weekend forecast calls for the rain to end Saturday morning with sunny skies in the afternoon. No rain is forecast for Easter Day but skies are expected to be partly cloudy.
