COALFIELDS WOMEN TO DISCUSS STRIKE

A group of women from the coalfields of Southwest Virginia will visit Virginia Tech on April 6 to tell the story of their role in the strike against Pittston Coal Co.

The panel discussion with members of the United Mineworkers of America District 28 Family Auxiliary will be held at the Donaldson Brown Continuing Education Center, 1-2:30 p.m., as part of the Women's Week celebration.

The women walked the picket lines, confronted stockholders and presented their cause to the company, the media and the world, discussion planners said.

In Camp Solidarity, the auxiliary fed up to 10,000 strikers and supporters and organized communities. The women achieved national and international recognition for their participation and leadership in the struggle, the planners said.

Information is available from the Women's Week Planning Committee, 231-7615.
