Mr. Lloyd S. (Sye) Strong, age 70, died on March 27 in a local hospital. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a B-29 pilot. He retired from General Electric Company with 30 years service and was a charter member of Colonial Presbyterian Church. Mr. Strong was also a member of Taylor Lodge #6023, Salem, a member of Kazim Temple, a member of Roanoke Valley Shrine Club, past captain of the Provost Guard, member of Scottish Rite Bodies and a member of Air Force Association, Roanoke Chapter #285. Surviving are his wife, Mary H. Strong; one son, Stanley F. Strong, San Jose, Calif.; one daughter, Marcia L. Strong, Richmond; two stepsons, Dane C. Wright and his wife, Jill; Frank L. Wright, Jr. and his wife, Kathie; one stepdaughter, Jule W. Atkinson and her husband, Jim; three granddaughters, Clara Phillips, Tracy Wright, Jaclyn Atkinson; one grandson, Danny Wright; one brother, D. Vernon (Sam) Strong, Candor, N.Y. Memorial services will be held at Colonial Presbyterian Church 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 1 with Dr. William A. Cole and Rev. H. Fleet Powell officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Colonial Presbyterian Church, Crippled Children's Hospital, Greenville, S.C. through the Kazim Temple in Roanoke, or to Penhook Rescue Squad, Penhook, Va.
