Mary Ruth Painter Scott, 87, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, March 28, 1991 in Camelot Hall Nursing Home in Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late John William Scott and her first husband was the late Wesley Franklin Breeden. Born in Rockbridge Co., she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Painter and Mary Rosalee Scott Painter. She was retired from Lynchburg Hosiery Mill and was a member of Park View United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. She is survived by a stepson, Russell M. Breeden of Evington; a brother, Frank Painter of Glasgow; three sisters, Annie Painter of Lynchburg; Mildred Leech and Bessie Slough, both of Glasgow; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday in Glasgow Cemetery by the Rev. William H. Leach. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel in Lynchburg.
