CLEMENT, JUANITA H.

Juanita H. (Mickey) Clement, age 66, formerly of Radford, died Thursday, March 28, 1991, at her home in Fredricksburg. She was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Florence M. Clement of Radford, Va. Miss Clement was a long time teacher and coach at Radford High school. In her honor, the Mickey Clement award is given annually to an outstanding female athlete from the graduating class. She received her BS degree from Radford College and her MS degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. She also served on the faculty at George Peabody College, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and the Mary Washington College. While at Mary Washington College she was appointed Dean of Students. She resigned from this position due to her health and returned to the class room. Following her retirement, she continued to make her home in Fredricksburg. Surviving are her sister, Helen F. Clement of Radford; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise C. and Homer H. Cole, Jr., of Radford; four nieces, Susan C. Graham of Hockessin, Del.; Emily C. Williams of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Anne C. Aker of Radford; Kristin C. Abernathy of Stoney Creek; one nephew, Michael H. Cole of Charlottesville; 13 great nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Radford Christian Church with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Radford. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the Devilbiss Funeral Home.
