HARRY L. WILSON has been named director of Roanoke College's Center for Community Research, effective June 1. The center offers services to Roanoke Valley organizations. It has done research for Mill Mountain Theatre, Clean Valley Council and the YWCA. The center also conducts the annual Roanoke Valley Poll, which it co-sponsors with the Roanoke Times & World-News. Wilson joined the political science faculty of the college in 1986. He has been affiliated with the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.

\ MARY C. SKINNER has been named vice president of operations of H.L. Duke & Co. Inc., a third-party administrator of self-insured group health and workers' compensation plans. She will be in charge of claims and administration operations for the Roanoke and Richmond offices.
\ JOHN H. PARROTT JR. has been promoted to assistant vice president of Thomas Rutherfoord Inc., an independent insurance agency based in Roanoke.\ ORGANIZATIONS
\ RICHARD MUNSON has been elected chairman of the Smith Mountain Lake Policy Advisory Board.
\ CONNIE N. BIERLY has been promoted to director of the Roanoke region of the American Lung Association of Virginia.
\ MARK D. IKENBERRY of Daleville has been elected to the board of the Virginia State Horticultural Society to represent the Roanoke district.

\ ELLIS L. GUTSHALL has been elected executive vice president of First Virginia Bank-Southwest. He will continue to manage the commercial loan department.
Dominion Bankshares Corp. has promoted the following to assistant vice presidents:\ JO SU ALBERT, manager of retail retirement services operations;\ LINDA K. GILBERT, manager of sales and customer service staff for retail retirement services; and\ ALLEN V. WASS, who is responsible for product management and development for electronic transfer and customer communications products for corporate customers.\ SUSAN E. THOMAS, product specialist for retail retirement services, has been promoted to retirement services officer.
\ KAREN T. FULCHER has been promoted to trust real estate officer at Crestar Bank, Martinsville.
Dominion Bankshares Services has announced the following promotions:\ CHERYL P. CASH, who sells bank cards to merchants in Southwest Virginia and West Virginia, to sales officer;\ DONNA R. HAMPTON, who handles the personal computer network and special analyses for bank card products, to operations officer; and\ KATHY S. SHELTON, who sells bank cards to merchants in Roanoke, Bedford, Lynchburg and Smith Mountain Lake, to sales officer.
