Virginia Roope Abell, age 71, of Roanoke died Friday, March 29, 1991. She
was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church. She is survived by two daughters
and one son-in-law, Carolyn A. King, Roanoke; Vickie A. Short and husband,
Michael, Roanoke; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael R. Abell, Roanoke;
Robert H. Abell and wife, Eva, Huntington Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren,
Melissa Short, Cammie Abell, Lynnette Parks, Robert H. Abell, Jr.; two
great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Sierra Parks; three sisters, Gertrude Thomas,
Goodview; Margaret Ridgeway and Beatrice Roope both of Roanoke; two brothers,
Wallace Roope, Boones Mill; and Bud Roope, Richmond. Funeral services will be
conducted from Oakey's North Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 1 with the
Rev. Dr. Charles W. Easley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial
Park. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel.
