FURMAN RALLIES TWICE TO TAKE TWO FROM VMI

Furman came from behind to win both games of a Southern Conference baseball doubleheader over VMI Saturday, 5-3 and 8-6.

The Keydets led 3-0 in game one, but third inning homers by Craig McLaughlin and Scott Altizer helped bring Furman (13-14 overall, 4-4 conference) back.

Will Ertel moved to 6-1 by pitching a complete game and shutting out VMI over the final six innings.

In game two, VMI (1-16, 0-8) again struck early with five first inning runs, but the Paladins came back with the help of five Keydet errors and a Brent Williams homer.

John Payne had four hits and Gil Minor four RBI on the day for the Keydets.
