FERRUM PITCHERS SHINE IN DOUBLEHEADER WINS

Ferrum pitching limited Maryville to one run in two games as the Panthers swept a college baseball doubleheader Saturday.

In game one, Kevin Alger (5-0) shut out Maryville on four hits through five innings and Jerald Smith hit a two-run homer as Ferrum won easily 11-0.

In the second game, Allen Knick (4-0) allowed one run and three hits, with seven strikeouts, through seven innings and the Panthers beat Maryville 4-1. Ricky Shiflett led off the game with a homer for Ferrum (15-2). Maryville is 9-13.
