KIRBY SCORES 3 TIMES IN VIRGINIA SCRIMMAGE

Tailback Terry Kirby scored three touchdowns and Nikki Fisher and David Brown rushed for more than 90 yards each in Virginia's first spring football scrimmage Saturday morning.

Wide receiver Randy Foley of Salem scored a touchdown and was one of 13 receivers to catch a pass. Quarterback Bobby Goodman completed 12 of 18 passes for 102 yards, and Matt Blundin was successful on six of 16 passes for 80 yards.

Kirby scored on runs of 3, 9 and 2 yards while gaining 54 yards on 12 carries. Fisher led the team with 97 yards on 13 attempts, and Brown carried 17 times for 92 yards.

Virginia's defense intercepted six passes, including two by defensive back Daymon Anderson. - Staff report
