COLLINS-KIRBY

Cara Kathleen Kirby and Christopher Brent Collins were married March 30, 1991, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Monroe, N.C. The Reverend Robert Latta officiated the ceremony. The reception was held in the Fellowship Building of the church. The maid of honor was Mellissa A. Kirby, sister of the bride. The matron of honor was Mrs. Elizabeth J. Kirby, sister of the bride, Robin Allison Collins and Candy Collins Pressley, sisters of the groom, and Laura A. Miller. Soloist was Robin Gibson Hall, of Radford, Va. The best man was Charles Brent Collins, father of the groom. Ushers were Shan Collins, David Couick, Randy Horne, David Jackson, and Steve Pressley. Organist was Andy Hardis and The Union Brass performed musical selections. The guestbook was attended by Dawn Baker, In-Young Chun, Nikki Ormond, and Amy Stewart. The bride's long gown was white satin and lace with a sabrina neckline, fitted basque waistline and long tapered sleeves. The gown, with embroidered lace, hand beaded pearls and sequins, had a fitted skirt and ended in a semi-cathedral length train. She carried a cascade of ivory, roses, wax flowers, and baby's breath. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Rebecca Layne Kirby, of Radford, Va., and Mr. John Patterson Kirby, of Kingsport, Tenn. Her maternal grandparents are Mrs. Dorothy R. Layne and the late Robert B. Layne. Her paternal grandparents are Mrs. Ila C. Kirby and the late Harry P. Kirby. She graduated from Radford High School, class of 1984, and in 1988 from Virginia Tech. She is employed by Forest Hills High School as a marketing teacher. The groom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brent Collins, of Monroe, N.C., graduated from Forest Hills High School, class of 1984. He is owner of Collins/Simpson Masonry in Monroe, N.C. After the wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the newlyweds will live in Monroe, N.C.
