NVR L.P. of McLean, the largest home builder in the Washington area, said it lost $261 million in 1990, mostly because of the restructuring it undertook in attempts to survive the slumping real estate market.
The company made a profit of $30.2 million.
A forecast from The Turner Corp., America's leading general builder, says construction costs are expected to experience a slight increase in the second quarter of 1991.
According to the Turner Building Cost Index, the 1991 second quarter cost index will increase to 452, up two points (.44 percent) over the first quarter 1991 and up 13 points (2.96 percent) over the second quarter 1990.
Turner has made its quarterly forecast for more than 50 years.
