Hoyt Vernon (Vern) Steed, Jr., age 35, of Roanoke, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., died Saturday, March 30, in Knoxville, Tenn. He was a business coordinator and box office manager of the Roanoke Civic Center. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at the University of Tennessee and a member of Bearden United Methodist Church, Knoxville, Tenn. and attendant the church of the Holy Spirit, Roanoke. He was active in Young Life and served as a volunteer for the American Heart, Assoc. Surviving are his beloved wife, Courtney King Steed, Roanoke; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Hoyt Vernon Steed, Sr., Knoxville, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law; brother, Timothy; and sister, Debbie Steed, Orlando, Fla.; Todd Steed; sister, Pamela Reeves, both of Knoxville; Tenn.; sister and brother-in-law, Paige and Bob McClure, Sevierville, Tenn.; nephews and nieces, Brad and Bryan Reeves; Tyler and Mandy McClure; parents-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Larry King; brother-in-law, Larry Duggins King, Jr.; Wichita Falls, Texas; beloved uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 1991 at Bearden United Methodist Church, Knoxville, Tenn. with the Rev. Charles W. Lockerby officiating. Interment in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville, Tenn. Memorials may be made to Young Life or Bearden United Methodist Church. Mann's Heritage Chapel Knoxville, Tenn. in charge of arrangements.
