BEDFORD - Edna Karnes Custer, age 74, of Route 6, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 31, 1991 at her home. She was born in Bedford County on March 21, 1917, a daughter of the late Fonle Owen Karnes and Rebecca St.Clair Karnes. She was a retired employee of DuPont Co. in Richmond with over 30 years of service. She is survived by her husband, Wilson O. Custer; a brother, W. Dexter Karnes, Bedford; two sisters, Mildred K. Walton, Bedford; Virginia K. Schultz, Lakeland, Fla. and several stepchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard L. Dooley officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and suggests memorials to the Bedford Life Saving Crew.
