W&L LEGAL SYMPOSIUM ON CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

"Protest and Resistance: Civil Disobedience in the 1990s" is the topic of a symposium which will be held at the Washington and Lee School of Law Saturday. It is sponsored by the Washington and Lee Law Review and the Frances Lewis Law Center.

Papers will be presented by recognized scholars, and commentators will include other contributors, professors, litigators, a federal judge and a community activist. The topics are: "Civil Disobedience - the Moral Imperative," "Abortion Clinic Protest," and "The Sanctuary Movement."

The symposium will review civil disobedience and the lawyer's duties and responsibilities when dealing with non-violent resistance.

For members of the Virginia Bar, the symposium has been approved for five hours of credit. For registration or more information, call Margaret Williams at (703) 463-8509.
