Eriksson, a 53-year-old Swede, has lived for the past 14 years in South Carolina where he is president of Soren Eriksson Training Inc.
The demonstrations are sponsored through Southwest Virginia Community College and the Virginia Department of Forestry. There is no charge.
Participants should meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Burger Boy Restaurant in Bland, the County Line Restaurant in eastern Galax, or the Floyd Express Mart, depending on which demonstration they are attending. They will depart from the logging sites at 8 a.m.
The morning sessions will deal with safety equipment, chain-saw maintenance, cutting techniques and tree analysis. Afternoon sessions will offer a chance to apply the morning's learning.
Eriksson will start by driving a stake into the ground by felling a tree on it. He will challenge participants to do the same, offering safety equipment as prizes.

"The manufacture of wood products in Virginia is a $2.1 billion industry and is the largest single employer in Virginia manufacturing." - Southwest bureau
