WIPE OUT TOBACCO, GET A TAX INCREASE

IF SMOKERS could get past the "guilt" of killing themselves, their family, friends and pets, they'd tell those people so intent on eliminating tobacco from this planet that the billions of dollars paid in state and federal taxes each year by the tobacco industry and users will soon come straight out of their pockets.

Anyone who has just paid 1990 income taxes is pretty sure that President Bush lied when he said, "No new taxes." Wait till we all receive the tax bill after tobacco taxes are gone. MARY B. BURTON SALEM
