James Sidney Caldwell, age 82, of Roanoke, died Monday, April 1, 1991 in a local hospital. He was a retired driver for General Motor Lines. Surviving are his wife, Irene Lloyd Caldwell; a son and daughter-in-law, James S., Jr. and Muriel B. Caldwell, Eden, N.C.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruby C. and Earl Bonham, Salem; Edith Bell, Vinton; Norma and Jack Wray, Hazel Stump, all of Roanoke; 12 grandchildren; one stepgrandson; 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Carter L. Sloan officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
