Yoshikami also will sing during her concert.
It will begin at 7 p.m. and is sponsored jointly by the public school systems of Roanoke and Roanoke County.
Yoshikami also will lecture on kyogen, a Japanese theatrical form which dates back about 600 years. Farcical in nature, kyogen was used as comic relief between acts of the more somber noh theater.
The lecture with slides will be in Clara Black Auditorium at 9:30 a.m. on April 12 and will be attended by students from both city and county schools.
The lecture and the concert also are open to the public. There will be no charge.
Yoshikami is an American by birth. She has studied Japanese traditions, including the playing of the koto, since childhood.
