Jackson, who sought the presidency in 1984 and 1988, waived his usual speaker's fee because his mother-in-law will be receiving a degree at the occasion, President Harrison B. Wilson told the Board of Visitors on Tuesday.
Jackson's mother-in-law, Gertrude Brown of Newport News, will receive a master's degree in clinical social work.
