PARAMEDIC A HOWLING SUCCESS

Tasmanian Devil was not your typical smoke-inhalation victim, but that didn't stop a Richmond paramedic from using his training to bring about a happy ending.

Capt. Johnathon D. Chisum discovered the large dog at an apartment fire Tuesday night and was faced with a choice: oxygen or mouth-to-snout resuscitation.

The oxygen did the trick.

Battalion Chief Leon Jasper said it took two firefighters to carry the dog downstairs.
