Garnett G. Liptrap, age 67, of Roanoke, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was a retired driver with Smith Transfer Company. Surviving are his wife, Nancy S. Liptrap; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Connie Liptrap, U.S. Navy (serving in Jacksonville, Fla.); two daughters and a son-in-law, Cynthia L. and Steve Ayers, and Bonnie L. Ferguson, all of Roanoke; six grandchildren and a great-grandson; three sisters, Avis Smith, Lynchburg; Lu Sanders, Mansfield, Ohio; and Betty Jo Vile, Northern Virginia; and a nephew, William Smith. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Franklin Memorial Park, at 2:00 p.m. Friday with Rev. John Wesley Newman officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
