Roy Elija Nester, age 75, of 836 Triangle Street, died Wednesday morning, April 3, 1991, in the Radford Community Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from VPI custodial services after 33 years employment. Surviving are his wife, Beulah Akers Nester; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin H. and Zana Nester, Blacksburg; R. Harold and Nancy Nester, Shawsville; Bruce W. Nester, Roger D. and Kathy Nester, all of Ironto; daughters and sons-in-law, Myrtle and Jimmy Yopp, Shawsville; Carrie and Eric Nowlin, Riner; Janice M. Nester, Blacksburg; a sister, Alva Nester Akers, Christiansburg; father-in-law, Freeman N. Akers, Fagg; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday from the Riverview Holiness Church conducted by the Rev. Ellis Meredith and the Rev. Homer Sawyer with burial in Sunset Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 a.m. Thursday and the family will receive friends at the church Thursday evening. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg.
