Mrs. Mary J. Crockett of Roanoke died Tuesday evening, April 2, after a brief illness. A longtime resident of the Cave Spring community, she was predeceased by her husband, French A. Crockett. Mrs. Crockett was an active participant in the life of Cave Spring Baptist Church serving as church clerk and Sunday School teacher for many years. For the past 13 years she lived at Friendship Manor again supporting her local church, Preston Oaks Baptist. Mrs. Crockett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Frank E. Eakin Jr. of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. F.B. Patteson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Cundiff and Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Cundiff; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. G.W. Cundiff and Mrs. F.W. Cundiff, all of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. James R. Millsaps officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive guests from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at Oakey's North Chapel. Donations to the American Cancer Society are suggested in lieu of flowers.
