ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY MAN GUILTY OF RAPE

Robert Fitzgerald, a laborer, was accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl in Glasgow last Dec. 1.

After the 40-minute trial, a jury deliberated for about two hours before reaching its verdict.

Since late 1989, Fitzgerald has also been convicted of disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated, malicious wounding, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, destroying property and grand larceny, according to court records.
