Sources close to Green said his wife, Nancy, also made the trip.
Tech continued its attempt to cloak its dealings with Green on Wednesday by slipping him out of Roanoke Regional Airport to avoid two reporters and a television cameraman. An airport security guard said Tech arranged in advance to have a car meet Green near the boarding gate so he would not encounter reporters in the airport atrium.
On Tuesday, Green said he would be visiting the one school whose vacant head coaching position interested him, but he would not confirm it was Virginia Tech because, he said, the school he was visiting had asked him to keep quiet.
However, speculation is widespread that the Tech job is Green's if he wants it.
Tuesday, the 47-year-old former North Carolina-Asheville head coach said he also wants to make sure the school he's interested in wants him.
"If somebody were to be convinced I had the ability to coach at a high Division I level," he said, "it would have to be somebody I'm comfortable with, who wants an honest program - we're not going to cheat - and wants to have quality kids that work hard."
Green said if he is offered the job during his visit and decides to accept it, it's unlikely his decision will be announced during the visit.
"I think it would be unfair to Roy Williams," he said Tuesday. "He's been my best friend for many, many, many years. He cares for Jerry Green.
"I'm not going to do anything and not going to leave [Kansas] feeling bad that I've been unfair to Roy Williams."
Kansas finished this past season with a trip to the NCAA Final Four at Indianapolis.
The Jayhawks ousted North Carolina 79-73 in the semifinals, then lost 72-65 to Duke in the championship game.
