DEMOLITION BALL KILLS CONSTRUCTION WORKER

A construction worker died Wednesday after being struck on the head by a 30-pound iron ball at a building site.

Dean Smigocki, 30, of Burtonsville, Md., was wearing a hard hat when the accident occurred, said police spokesman Boyd Thompson.

The iron ball fell 30 feet from a crane before striking Smigocki.
