WITH CARDILLO, THE RAFTERS ARE THE LIMIT

His work has been described as "on the cutting edge of art" and Joe Cardillo - author, industrial rock poet and recording artist - is one of the most published poets in America.

Cardillo - who's in a number of important directories, including "International Authors and Writers Who's Who," published in England - appear with his New York band Thursday at South Main Cafe and plans to rock the rafters.

Cardillo is author of five books, the most recent titled "The Rock 'n' Roll Journals." He also has recorded an album of the same name and has had considerable college FM air play for his single, "Free Will." His new CD single is called "First Light."

Touring with Cardillo are Ken Valentine on guitars and Elaine McHenry on vocals and computers. Cardillo does vocals, computers, guitar and violin-stick.

The band's sound is high tech. with an industrial edget lyrics. There five computer modules onstage, each capable of delivering more than 100 different sounds.

Cardillo is planning a European tour and is finishing an album that will be released by early 1992.
