COMMUNITY PROGRAMS GET ROTARY DONATIONS

The Christiansburg-Blacksburg Rotary Club recently gave $6,000 to several community organizations and programs.

The gifts were made possible by the success of the "2 for 1 Restaurant Coupon Booklet" project club members conducted last fall with the participation of 10 area restaurants. About 550 coupon books were sold.

Community organizations honored at a recent dinner meeting with the Rotary were Montgomery Community Shelter, Community Action, Women's Resource Center, Shelter Home and Habitat for Humanity. Virginia Mountain Housing, Montgomery County Emergency Assistance and the Christmas Store also received grants.

Participating restaurants were Backstreets, The Greeks, Maxwell's, Bogen's, Mountain Lake, The Roma, London Underground, Charlie's Chinese, Valley Pike Inn and Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken.
