LAKE DEVELOPERS, NEIGHBOR SETTLE SUIT

The neighbor of a Smith Mountain Lake town-house project and its developers have settled their differences, an attorney for the neighbor said Thursday.

Lawrence E. Hylton - who lives on six acres next to the Pebble Brook development and had filed suit against its developers - reached agreement with them, attorney Steve Grant said. The suit, which asked for $7,000, was to have been heard Thursday morning in Bedford County General District Court.

Developers Ed Turner and Ricky Tomlin will repair Hylton's driveway and will run a drainage easement under his property, Grant said.

Hylton filed the suit in January, alleging that the developers didn't take proper precautions to control erosion when they built the 11-unit project. A road into the project channels storm water into his driveway, carrying and abandoning silt in its wake, Hylton said.
