SHIP REPAIRER GUILTY OF FALSE NAVY INVOICES

A federal jury found that a Fairfax ship repair company submitted false claims to the Navy over a six-year period.

Seaward Marine Services Inc. was convicted Wednesday in U.S. District Court of falsifying 886 invoices for contracts to clean ship hulls between 1983 and 1989.

A federal judge will set damages in the civil case within two weeks. Seaward could be fined more than $11 million.
