WOULD-BE ROBBER GETS GRANDMA'S SCOLDING

A 74-year-old grandmother armed with a 3-foot length of pipe and a sharp tongue forced a gunman into the arms of police Thursday.

Police said it started with the botched hold-up of a 7-Eleven.

As police gave chase, the would-be robber forced his way into Lovett Tilor's apartment, thrusting a gun in her face.

"I said, `Why'd you come in my house? I don't know you. If you're making trouble, you'd better be making tracks somewhere else,' " she said.

Police said Tilor's continued scolding may have convinced the gunman to give up. She opened the door and shoved him out.
