Marvin Wayne Tawney, age 46, died Friday morning in a Roanoke hospital. A native of Newport, he was the son of Coleman S. Tawney of Newport and the late Helen Lucas Tawney. He was an employee of Federal Mogul Corporation of Blacksburg and a 1965 graduate of Giles High School. He is also survived by his wife, Carolyn Perkins Tawney; one son, Ward Anthony (Andy) Tawney, at home; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Michael Raines of Newport; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Joe and Deborah Tawney of Pembroke; James and Viola Tawney of Floyd; one twin sister, Mavis and husband, Roger Balarzs of Pembroke; six nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the New River Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Pembroke, Va. Burial will be in the Lucas Cemetery near Newport. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, Pembroke, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening.
