COMPANY BEGINS TESTS FOR CANCER TREATMENT

Genentech Inc. said Friday it has begun human testing of an antibody that could be used to treat breast and ovarian cancer.

Human clinical trials began this week at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine, the biotechnology company said. Genentech said the project is one of the first attempts to treat cancer by targeting a specific cancer gene product. - Associated Press
